We got married one year ago today. Our wedding day was my favorite day of my life so far. Trying to put into words all that the day was will be near impossible. So, I thought I would walk you through it with some of our favorite moments that were captured by our amazing photographer Marielle. If you hate mushy things, and love you should just stop right now. Here we go…
The morning of our wedding day started out so peaceful, and no I didn’t get lots of sleep the night before and needed a lot of coffee before I was smiling on the outside. Hair and make up started around 8am, and then we piled into cars and drove to Camano Island. On the way, I could see coulds in the distance, but I refused to even entertain the idea that it would rain on our wedding day. In fact, I barely gave my wedding coordinator a back up plan if that were to happen. because it just was NOT going to happen. but… It started raining about 30 minutes before our scheduled first look. everything was set up outside. I was supposed to be getting into my dress, but I was sitting on the couch listening to the pouring rain and thunder. It wasn’t just lightly raining, this was a straight up down pour.

I am a feeler, and man was I having FEELINGS about this weather. One of my bridesmaids came up to me, (i don’t remember who, i’m sorry!) and said, “ I know you’re disappointed in the weather, and it really does suck that its raining, but I promise it will still be the best day of your life, and its supposed to stop raining!" That snapped me out of my mood and I was ready to get into my dress.

Shon here:
I stood in the barn watching all my groomsmen move all our tables and decor out of the rain and I felt a heaviness in my heart, I knew that Kaitlyn was probably having a hard time with the rain and feeling sad. I was thankful for our awesome friends and family being willing to help move everything back and forth so i could go to the first look. I was very nervous walking to the first look not knowing how I was going to react to seeing Kaitlyn. I stood in the rain waiting for her, and right as she touched my shoulder I felt a wave of love and uncontrollably burst into tears of joy. The moment I turned around and gazed upon my gorgeous future wife I thought how lucky I am to get to marry her.

After the first look, we sat inside and waited for the rain to pass before taking more photos… my wedding coordinator was working her booty off to get everything dried and set up inside the barn, but I just had a feeling the rain was going to clear up.
IT DID!
Around 4pm the rain stopped and we were able to have our ceremony outside in our original location! To say we were excited was an understatement. Everything had a glisten to it because of the rain and later we got some epic fog.

Getting to marry Shon is my biggest dream come true. Walking down the isle toward him, I was full of excitement and had never felt such love for him as I did in that moment. Honestly, most of the actual ceremony is a blur and I remember trying to commit everything to my memory. All of a sudden Jon said “You may now kiss your bride” and we kissed… and then kept kissing and I burst into tears. I truly felt a deep shift within myself and a weight lifted off me. In one moment everything changed. I remember thinking “oh my gosh YES. this is REAL. and it happened to me. he choose me and loves me. thank GOD!”
wow crying right now writing this* Shons in the kitchen making me lunch and being goofy to the music blasting and i am SO thankful.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much to each and every one of you who was apart of our day. I am still finding out about all the behind the scene things that happened, and problems that were solved without me even knowing. We couldn’t have done this last year without the support of our amazing family and friends, we are SO thankful for you.
